Weight Engineer Superyachts
Advanced Lightweight Engineering Delft (ALE Delft) is specialized in lightweight structures in both composites and metals. We offer solutions where weight, strength and maintenance are key. For over 25 years we have been applying our knowledge and expertise in the world leading Dutch yachting industry.
ALE Delft is currently looking for a Weight Engineer Superyachts. In this challenging function we will train you to become responsible for the weight management of various superyacht projects, as a specialist member of the yard’s project teams. You will learn all ins and outs of yacht building as weight is the common denominator of all components on board. In the early stages of a new project you will work on weight calculations, optimization, and setting up the monitoring procedures. During construction and outfitting, the weight and center of gravity are monitored closely as they are essential for the overall stability and performance of these ships. You will inspect the progress on board on a regular basis and report the current and expected final weight of the yacht. Besides safeguarding these characteristics, you will actively look for potential improvements of the construction or outfitting of the vessel and the procedures at the yard.
This job requires a healthy dose of technical insight, critical thinking, a precise way of working and strong communicational skills in both Dutch and English, as coordinating between the yards and subcontractors is a significant part of the job.
